Hot Stone Massage: Melt Away Muscle Tension

(updated March 6, 2026)

Ever wondered if a hot stone massage is just a fluffy spa treatment or if it actually works? Let’s set the record straight: it’s a powerhouse for melting away serious muscle pain and tension. The magic is in the heat. Smooth, warm stones relax your muscles and improve circulation before the hands-on work even begins. This allows your therapist to get deeper into knots, much like a deep tissue massage, but with far less intense pressure. It’s the perfect choice if you want powerful relief without the wincing, proving this therapy is so much more than a simple indulgence.

Key Takeaways

  • Heat allows for deeper work with less pressure: The warmth from the stones penetrates your muscles, increasing blood flow and preparing them for therapeutic work. This lets your therapist resolve tension more effectively without the need for intense, uncomfortable pressure.
  • A licensed therapist is non-negotiable: Ensure your massage therapist is licensed and works in a professional studio. This guarantees they have the proper training in anatomy and safety protocols to give you a controlled, therapeutic, and safe hot stone experience.
  • Communicate during and hydrate after: The best results come from a personalized session, so always share your preferences on heat and pressure. Afterward, drink plenty of water to help your body process the treatment and extend that feeling of deep relaxation.

What Is a Hot Stone Massage?

A hot stone massage is a wonderfully soothing form of massage therapy that uses smooth, heated stones to melt away tension. Think of it as a classic massage with an added layer of warmth and comfort that helps you relax on a deeper level. During the session, a therapist uses these warm stones as an extension of their hands to massage your body. They may also place them on specific points along your spine, stomach, or feet to warm and loosen tight muscles before they even begin the hands-on work. This preparation makes the massage itself more effective and feel even better.

While many places use common basalt stones, here at Nola Bliss, we use Hot Himalayan Salt Stones for an enhanced therapeutic experience. These stones are not only great at retaining heat but are also packed with minerals that can help gently exfoliate and nourish your skin. The gentle heat helps your muscles release tension more easily, allowing your therapist to address knots and soreness more effectively. It’s a fantastic choice if you’re dealing with muscle pain, stress, or just want to experience profound relaxation. This type of massage service is perfect for anyone looking to combine the benefits of heat therapy with skilled massage techniques for a truly restorative session.

A Brief History of Hot Stone Therapy

The idea of using heated stones for healing isn’t a modern spa invention; it has a rich history stretching back thousands of years. Its roots can be found in various ancient practices, from Ayurvedic medicine in India to traditions in ancient Asia, and even among Indigenous Americans and Hawaiians. These cultures understood the therapeutic power of heat to soothe the body and mind. While the core concept is ancient, its formalization as a modern massage technique happened relatively recently, around 1993. This evolution brought the practice into professional studios, where its value could be fully explored. Today, hot stone massage is recognized for offering a wide range of health benefits beyond simple relaxation, effectively addressing muscle tension and pain, and securing its place as a respected therapeutic treatment.

How Do the Heated Stones Work?

So, what actually happens during the massage? First, your therapist will heat the stones in a professional-grade heater until they reach the perfect temperature—warm, but not uncomfortably hot. They’ll then apply oil to your skin, which allows the stones to glide smoothly. You’ll feel the therapist use the warm stones to perform long, flowing strokes, similar to a Swedish massage. They may also leave stationary stones on specific trigger points or tense areas. This combination of placement and movement helps your entire body unwind, preparing your muscles for deeper work and leaving you feeling grounded and serene.

The Science Behind the Stones

The magic of a hot stone massage lies in simple, effective science. The warmth from the stones penetrates deep into your muscle tissue, which causes the blood vessels to expand. This process, known as vasodilation, increases blood flow to the area, delivering more oxygen and helping to flush out metabolic waste. This rush of fresh blood prepares your muscles for therapeutic work, allowing them to relax and release tension more readily. As a result, your therapist can address knots and soreness more effectively, often without needing the intense pressure associated with a traditional deep tissue massage. It’s a smarter, gentler way to achieve profound muscle relief.

Himalayan Salt Stones vs. Basalt Stones

When you picture a hot stone massage, you probably imagine smooth, dark gray basalt stones. They’re great at retaining heat and are commonly used, but there’s an even better option. At Nola Bliss, we exclusively use Hot Himalayan Salt Stones because they offer an enhanced therapeutic experience. Unlike basalt, these beautiful pink stones are packed with 84 naturally occurring minerals. As they glide over your skin, they provide gentle exfoliation and allow your body to absorb trace minerals, which helps to nourish and replenish your skin. This combines the benefits of heat therapy with the restorative properties of salt, creating a more holistic and deeply relaxing treatment from start to finish.

Why Heat Melts Muscle Tension

The magic of a hot stone massage really comes down to the therapeutic power of heat. When the warm stones are placed on your body, the heat penetrates deep into your muscle tissue. This warmth increases blood flow to the area, which is crucial for healing. Improved circulation brings more oxygen to your muscles and helps carry away metabolic waste, which can reduce soreness and stiffness. This process allows your muscles to relax more quickly and completely than they would with a traditional massage alone. As a result, your therapist can often work more deeply and effectively on knots and tight spots without needing to apply intense pressure, making it a comfortable yet powerful treatment.

Hot Stone Massage Benefits You’ll Love

A hot stone massage feels like a luxurious treat, but its benefits go far beyond simple relaxation. This therapy uses smooth, heated stones to warm and relax your muscles, allowing your massage therapist to work more deeply and effectively. The targeted heat helps release tension in a way that hands alone sometimes can’t, making it a powerful tool for both physical and mental well-being. It’s a perfect example of how a simple element—heat—can completely transform a massage experience.

The magic is in how the warmth prepares your body for therapeutic work. As the stones rest on key points, the heat penetrates your muscles, increasing circulation and signaling your body that it’s safe to let go. This creates a deeply restorative state where your therapist can address chronic pain and stubborn knots with greater ease and less discomfort for you. At Nola Bliss, we enhance this experience with our Hot Himalayan Salt Stones, which add the benefits of 84 naturally occurring minerals to your session. The combination of heat, minerals, and skilled massage techniques can soothe sore muscles, ease stress, and restore a sense of balance. It’s a fantastic way to address physical aches while melting away the day’s worries.

Ease Sore Muscles and Improve Blood Flow

If you struggle with muscle tension, soreness, or chronic pain, the targeted warmth of a hot stone massage can make a world of difference. The heat from the stones helps increase blood flow to tired, stiff muscles. This improved circulation delivers more oxygen to the area, which helps repair damaged tissues and ease aches. It also allows your therapist to work on deeper layers of muscle without applying intense, uncomfortable pressure. This makes it an excellent choice for anyone who needs the results of a deep tissue massage but prefers a gentler approach. The stones essentially do the initial work of loosening you up, making the entire session more effective and relaxing.

Melt Away Stress and Find Your Calm

The physical benefits of a hot stone massage are impressive, but the mental and emotional release is just as profound. The gentle, consistent warmth has a deeply calming effect on the nervous system. As the stones are placed on your body, their weight and heat create a comforting, grounding sensation that helps quiet a racing mind. This type of massage is known to lower stress levels and promote a state of deep relaxation. For many people, this mental calm is the most memorable part of the experience. It’s an opportunity to disconnect from daily pressures and reconnect with yourself, leaving you feeling centered, peaceful, and often ready for a great night’s sleep. Explore all our massage services to find your perfect escape.

Promote Better Sleep

If you find yourself tossing and turning at night, a hot stone massage could be a wonderful, natural way to improve your sleep. The deep relaxation it provides goes beyond the massage table. The therapeutic heat calms your nervous system, helping to quiet the mental chatter that often keeps us awake. According to research from Healthline, massage can be a great alternative to sleeping pills for adults who have trouble sleeping. By easing muscle tension and lowering stress levels, your body is better prepared for restorative rest. Many people find they fall asleep more easily and enjoy a deeper, more continuous sleep on the night of their massage, waking up feeling refreshed and recharged.

Help for Autoimmune Diseases

For those managing the symptoms of an autoimmune disease, a hot stone massage can offer significant comfort and relief. While it’s not a cure, it serves as an effective complementary therapy to help manage chronic pain and discomfort. The gentle, penetrating heat is particularly soothing for conditions like fibromyalgia. In fact, one study found that a 30-minute massage helped people with fibromyalgia experience less pain and sleep longer. The warmth improves circulation and calms the nervous system, which can help reduce the widespread pain and fatigue associated with these conditions, ultimately improving overall quality of life.

Support a Stronger Immune System

Taking time for a massage does more than just relax your muscles; it can also give your immune system a helpful hand. Chronic stress can weaken your body’s defenses, but the deep relaxation from a hot stone massage helps counteract that. Research has shown that even a single session of massage can have a positive effect on your immune response. It works by decreasing stress-related hormones that can suppress immune function. By lowering your stress levels and promoting a state of calm, you’re allowing your immune system to work more efficiently, making this therapy a proactive step for your overall health and well-being.

May Help Reduce Cancer Symptoms

Massage can be an incredibly supportive therapy for individuals going through cancer treatment, offering a gentle touch during a difficult time. It’s important to note that massage does not treat cancer itself, but it can significantly improve quality of life by alleviating some of the challenging symptoms and side effects of treatment. A large study involving over 1,200 cancer patients found that massage helped reduce common issues like pain, fatigue, stress, anxiety, and nausea. The soothing warmth of a hot stone massage, when approved by a doctor and performed by a trained therapist, can provide profound comfort and a much-needed sense of peace and relaxation.

Your First Hot Stone Massage: What to Expect

Walking into a massage appointment, especially for a specialized treatment like a hot stone massage, can feel a little mysterious if you’ve never had one before. We want you to feel completely comfortable from the moment you arrive. Knowing what’s coming next helps you relax and get the most out of your experience. Here’s a simple breakdown of what your appointment will look like, from start to finish, so you can focus on what matters: pure relaxation.

Preparing for Your Session

When you arrive, we’ll give you a brief health questionnaire to fill out. This helps your therapist understand your needs and any areas that require special attention. Next, you’ll have a private chat with your therapist. This is your time to share your goals for the session—whether you’re looking to relieve tension in your shoulders, soothe a sore back, or simply de-stress. Our dedicated team is here to listen and tailor the massage just for you. After your consultation, your therapist will step out, allowing you complete privacy to undress to your comfort level and get settled under the sheets on the massage table.

During Your Massage: A Step-by-Step Guide

Once you’re comfortable, your therapist will re-enter the room and begin. They will start by warming up your muscles with traditional massage techniques before introducing the heated stones. These smooth, warm stones are placed on specific points of your body, often along your spine, shoulders, and lower back, to release tightness. The therapist will also hold the stones and use them to perform long, flowing strokes and circular movements. The heat penetrates deeply, relaxing your muscles more quickly than a traditional massage. For your safety and comfort, the stones are always kept in motion when used for active massage to ensure the heat is soothing, never too intense.

The Placement of the Stones

You might be wondering if the stones are placed randomly, but their positioning is actually very deliberate. Your therapist will strategically place the warm stones on specific points of your body to maximize relaxation and therapeutic benefits. Common spots include along your spine, on your stomach, chest, and even in the palms of your hands. This targeted heat helps to warm and soften the underlying muscles and tissues before the hands-on massage even begins. Think of it as a preparatory step that allows your body to start unwinding, making the entire massage service more effective and allowing the therapist to address tension on a deeper level with greater ease.

After Your Massage: Essential Aftercare Tips

When your massage is over, your therapist will leave the room so you can slowly get up and get dressed. Take your time—there’s no need to rush. We encourage you to drink plenty of water for the rest of the day. This helps your body flush out any metabolic waste that was released from your muscles during the session. Try to keep your schedule light afterward to extend that wonderful feeling of calm and relaxation. Your therapist may also offer some personalized suggestions for stretching or self-care to help you maintain the benefits. Is a Hot Stone Massage Right for You?

A hot stone massage can be an incredible experience, offering deep relaxation and relief that goes beyond a traditional massage. But like any therapeutic treatment, it’s not a one-size-fits-all solution. The best massage for you depends on your personal health, comfort level, and wellness goals. It’s important to know when this therapy is a great choice and when you might want to opt for a different service. Thinking through your health history and understanding how a professional session works will help you make an informed decision. Let’s walk through some key considerations, our safety standards, and a few common myths to help you decide if adding hot stones to your next massage is the right move.

Who Benefits Most from Hot Stone Massage?

A hot stone massage is a fantastic option for almost anyone looking to relieve muscle tension, pain, or stress. If you find yourself dealing with chronic aches, especially in your back and shoulders, the targeted heat can provide significant relief. It’s also an excellent choice for individuals who experience trouble sleeping or suffer from anxiety, as the deep, calming warmth helps soothe the nervous system. According to health experts, people with conditions like fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis often find this therapy particularly beneficial. The heat allows the therapist to work more deeply without intense pressure, making it a great alternative for those who want the results of a deep tissue massage with a gentler touch. It truly helps people feel better both physically and mentally, making it a versatile treatment for a wide range of wellness goals.

When to Talk to Your Doctor First

Your safety and comfort are always the top priority. While a hot stone massage is safe for most people, there are some situations where it’s best to avoid it. This therapy may not be suitable if you have certain health conditions that affect your circulation or skin sensitivity. We recommend checking with your doctor before booking if you have a bleeding disorder, take blood thinners, have a history of blood clots, or have diabetes. It’s also best to skip this treatment if you have open wounds, skin burns, a fracture, severe osteoporosis, or have had surgery in the last six weeks. Being open with your massage therapist about your health history allows them to tailor the perfect, safest session for you.

How a Professional Keeps You Safe

When you’re in the hands of a trained professional, a hot stone massage is a very safe and controlled experience. At Nola Bliss, our licensed therapists are experts in their craft and follow strict safety protocols. We use a professional-grade stone heater to bring the Himalayan salt stones to a precise, therapeutic temperature—never a microwave, slow cooker, or oven. This ensures the heat is consistent and safe for your skin. We also always place a sheet or towel between your skin and the stones, which acts as a protective barrier and allows the heat to penetrate your muscles gently and effectively. You can relax knowing that our team is dedicated to providing a treatment that is not only blissful but also completely safe.

Common Safety Myths, Busted

A few misconceptions about hot stone massage sometimes cause people to hesitate, so let’s clear them up. One common worry is that the stones will be painfully hot. In reality, the temperature is carefully regulated to be soothing, not scorching. If at any point the stones feel too warm, all you have to do is tell your therapist. They can adjust the temperature or add another layer between the stone and your skin. Another myth is that hot stone massage is only for simple relaxation. While it is incredibly calming, the heat also provides significant therapeutic benefits by warming up your muscles, allowing your therapist to work more deeply and effectively to release tension. Your massage is always customized to you, and you are always in control of the session.

Understanding Pain vs. Soreness

You might have heard the phrase “no pain, no gain,” but that definitely doesn’t apply to a good massage. It’s important to understand the difference between therapeutic soreness and actual pain. Soreness is that dull, achy feeling you might experience after a deep massage, similar to how your muscles feel after a great workout. This is a sign that your muscles have been worked effectively and are beginning to release long-held tension. Pain, on the other hand, is a sharp, shooting, or intense sensation that signals your body is tensing up—the exact opposite of our goal. You should always feel comfortable speaking up if anything feels too intense during your session.

This is where a hot stone massage truly shines. The heat from the stones does much of the initial work, warming your muscle tissue and increasing blood flow to the area. This preparation makes your muscles more pliable, allowing your therapist to address deep knots and tension effectively without needing to apply forceful, uncomfortable pressure. The warmth coaxes your muscles to relax, leading to a more productive session that feels wonderful and avoids that “bad” pain. It’s the perfect way to get the results of a deep tissue massage with a much gentler approach.

How to Choose the Right Massage Therapist

Finding the right massage therapist can make all the difference between a so-so experience and one that leaves you feeling truly restored. This is especially true for specialized treatments like hot stone massage, where technique and safety are paramount. You want a professional who not only knows what they’re doing but also listens to your needs and makes you feel comfortable. Think of it as building a partnership for your well-being. A great therapist is more than just a pair of skilled hands; they are a trained professional dedicated to the art and science of massage.

When you invest in a massage, you’re investing in your health. The person you entrust with that care should be qualified, experienced, and a good fit for your personality and goals. Whether you’re seeking relief from chronic pain, recovering from an injury, or simply trying to manage stress, the right therapist will tailor the session to you. They’ll know the right questions to ask and how to apply their skills to get you the results you need. So, how do you find this person? It starts with knowing what to look for and what to ask. Here’s what to consider to ensure you’re in the best possible care.

Are They Certified? What to Look For

First things first: always make sure your massage therapist is licensed. In Louisiana, this means they are a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT), which confirms they’ve completed extensive education and passed a state-recognized exam. This isn’t just a piece of paper; it’s your assurance that the therapist understands anatomy, physiology, and safe practices for techniques like hot stone massage. At a professional studio, this is a baseline requirement. For example, our team of therapists are all licensed and have dedicated their careers to therapeutic massage. Don’t ever hesitate to ask about a therapist’s credentials—a true professional will be proud to share them.

What to Ask Your Therapist

Once you’ve confirmed a therapist is licensed, feel empowered to ask a few questions to find the right fit. A good therapist will welcome your interest. You can ask about their experience with the specific service you want, like a Hot Himalayan Salt Stone massage. Ask things like, “How often do you perform this type of massage?” or “What kind of continuing education have you done recently?” You can also check online reviews to see what other clients have said about their experiences. This simple conversation helps build trust and ensures you’re matched with someone who has the specific skills you’re looking for.

Why Choosing a Specialist Matters

Where you get your massage matters just as much as who gives it. While a hotel spa might be convenient, a specialized massage studio is often a better choice for therapeutic results. Therapists at dedicated studios typically have more advanced training and a deeper focus on healing and pain relief, rather than just general relaxation. The entire environment is designed to support therapeutic work. At a studio like ours, you’ll find a team focused on a wide range of specialized massage services, ensuring you’re treated by someone with genuine expertise in the modality you choose. This focus on craft is what separates a good massage from a great one.

Is a Hot Stone Massage Worth It?

Deciding to add something new to your massage routine can feel like a big step, especially when it comes with a different price tag. You might be wondering if the added cost of a hot stone massage truly translates to a better experience. The short answer is, for many people, absolutely. It’s not just about feeling good in the moment; it’s about achieving a deeper level of muscle relaxation and therapeutic relief that can be hard to reach with hands alone. Think of it as an investment in your well-being, one that pays off in lasting calm and comfort.

How Much Does a Hot Stone Massage Cost?

A hot stone massage is typically considered a premium service, and its price reflects the extra preparation and skill involved. Across the country, you can expect a 60-minute session to cost anywhere from $85 to $160, depending on your location and the studio. At Nola Bliss, we offer Hot Himalayan Salt Stones as an enhancement to our other massages, which is a great way to experience the benefits without committing to a full specialty session. This added element transforms your massage, allowing for deeper muscle work and a more profound sense of relaxation that many clients find is well worth the investment.

Hot Stone vs. Traditional: Key Differences

The most obvious difference is, of course, the stones. But it’s how they’re used that really sets this treatment apart. A traditional massage relies solely on the therapist’s hands, forearms, and elbows to work out knots. A hot stone massage introduces smooth, heated stones as therapeutic tools. These stones, often made of a volcanic rock called basalt that retains heat well, are warmed to a precise temperature.

Your therapist will place them on key points of your body to warm and relax the muscles before the hands-on work begins. They will also use the stones to perform the massage itself, gliding them over your body with oil. The heat penetrates deeply into your muscle tissue, allowing your therapist to release tension more effectively and with less pressure. This combination of heat and massage can help relieve muscle pain, reduce inflammation, and melt away stress in a way that a standard massage simply can’t replicate.

How to Prepare for Your First Hot Stone Massage

Getting ready for your first hot stone massage is simple, but a few small steps can help you get the most out of your appointment. Think of it as setting the stage for total relaxation. Knowing what to expect and how to communicate with your therapist will ensure your experience is comfortable, safe, and incredibly soothing from start to finish.

What to Wear to Your Appointment

My best advice is to arrive in comfortable, loose-fitting clothes. This helps you start relaxing the moment you walk in and makes it easier to get dressed again when you’re in a blissful, post-massage state. During the massage itself, you’ll undress to your personal comfort level. Most people undress completely or leave their underwear on. No matter your choice, you will be professionally draped with a sheet at all times, with only the area being worked on exposed. The key is for you to feel secure and at ease.

What to Do Before You Arrive

On the day of your appointment, a little preparation goes a long way. Try to drink plenty of water throughout the day to ensure your muscles are well-hydrated and ready to release tension. It’s also a good idea to avoid eating a heavy meal right before you come in, so you can lie comfortably on the table. Plan to arrive about 10 to 15 minutes early. This gives you time to fill out any necessary paperwork without feeling rushed and, more importantly, to have a thoughtful conversation with your therapist. This is your chance to share your goals for the session, whether it’s targeting a sore neck or simply de-stressing. Thinking about your goals beforehand helps us tailor the perfect massage service for you.

Know What to Expect (and What Not To)

A hot stone massage is a type of therapy that uses smooth, heated stones to relax and ease tense muscles. The warmth from the stones is deeply calming and helps your therapist work more effectively into the muscle tissue. While the experience is therapeutic, its main purpose is to melt away tension through heat, not through intense pressure. Expect a deeply soothing session that encourages your muscles to release gently. Our Hot Himalayan Salt Stones enhancement adds another layer of mineral-rich benefits to this already wonderful treatment.

How to Communicate Your Needs

This is the most important part: your comfort is our top priority. The stones will be warm, but they should never be uncomfortably hot. Your therapist is trained to heat the stones to a precise, safe temperature, but everyone’s sensitivity is different. If the heat or pressure ever feels too intense, please speak up immediately. Our licensed massage therapists will check in with you, but you are the expert on your own body. Open communication is the key to a perfect massage, so don’t hesitate to share your preferences at any point during your session.

How to Get the Most from Your Hot Stone Massage

A great massage is more than just an hour of relaxation; it’s an investment in your well-being. To make sure you get every bit of value from your hot stone session, a little preparation and aftercare can go a long way. Here’s how you can extend that blissful feeling long after you’ve left the studio.

Tailoring the Massage to Your Needs

Your hot stone massage should feel like it was designed just for you—because it is. A skilled therapist doesn’t just place stones randomly; they use smooth, heated stones as an extension of their hands to warm and relax your muscles. This allows them to work more deeply and effectively on specific areas of tension, like your shoulders or lower back. We use Hot Himalayan Salt Stones, which gently exfoliate the skin and impart soothing minerals. Always remember that communication is key. If the temperature or pressure ever feels off, speak up! Your comfort is the top priority, and a simple adjustment can make all the difference in your experience.

Simple Aftercare to Extend the Benefits

Think of what you do after your massage as the final, crucial step of your treatment. The most important thing is to drink plenty of water. The heat and massage work together to release tension from your muscles, and hydrating helps your body flush everything out. You might feel a little tender afterward, similar to how you’d feel after a good workout, but you shouldn’t feel sharp pain. Give yourself permission to take it easy for the rest of the day. A warm bath or simply lounging on the couch can help your body fully integrate the benefits of the session and prolong that sense of calm.

How to Maintain the Benefits at Home

That wonderful post-massage feeling doesn’t have to fade as soon as you walk out the door. The heat from the stones improves blood flow, which helps reduce muscle spasms and increase flexibility. To keep these benefits going, consider making massage a regular part of your self-care routine. Consistent sessions can help manage chronic pain, lower stress levels, and even lead to better sleep. When you work with a dedicated team of highly trained therapists, you’re not just getting a one-time fix; you’re building a foundation for lasting wellness.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the stones be too hot? I’m worried about getting burned. This is a very common and completely valid concern, but you can rest easy. Our licensed therapists are trained professionals who use a special heater to bring the stones to a precise temperature that is therapeutic and warm, not dangerously hot. We also place a sheet between your skin and any stationary stones for added protection. Your comfort is our priority, so if at any point the warmth feels too intense for you, just let your therapist know. They can adjust immediately.

What makes your Himalayan salt stones different from regular hot stones? While traditional hot stone massages often use basalt stones, which are great for retaining heat, we use Himalayan salt stones for an enhanced experience. These stones provide a gentle exfoliation for your skin as they glide over your body. They also contain dozens of naturally occurring minerals that can be absorbed during the massage, adding a nourishing element to the session. It’s a way to combine the benefits of heat therapy with the restorative properties of salt.

I have really tight knots. Should I book a deep tissue or a hot stone massage? This is a great question, and the best choice depends on what you prefer. A deep tissue massage uses firm pressure to target those deep knots. A hot stone massage uses heat to do the initial work of softening the muscle tissue, which allows your therapist to work on the knots more easily and often with less intense pressure. If you want deep relief but find traditional deep tissue pressure to be too much, a hot stone massage is a fantastic alternative.

Is a hot stone massage safe during pregnancy? For your safety and the well-being of your baby, we do not recommend hot stone massage during pregnancy. The primary concern is the risk of raising your core body temperature. However, we do offer wonderful and safe prenatal massages specifically designed to address the aches and pains of pregnancy. Your therapist can help you find the perfect treatment to feel comfortable and cared for.

How will I feel after the massage, and is there anything special I need to do? Most people feel deeply relaxed and peaceful after a hot stone massage. Your muscles may feel loose and light, and you might even feel a little sleepy. To get the most out of your session, we recommend drinking plenty of water throughout the rest of the day. This helps your body process the therapeutic work. It’s also a good idea to avoid strenuous activity and just allow yourself some time to rest and enjoy the lasting sense of calm.
